Software Architect for the Research Group

 

JOB POSITION A software architect of ESTECO’s Research Group is responsible to carry out different aspects of the research agenda. The candidate will contribute with technical efforts, consultation and support to the group for the implementation of the ESTECO’s research programs, and disseminate research findings and lessons to company’s production groups. The candidate must participate in the Research Group’s mission of promoting technology innovations, understandings and change.

JOB TERM  Full time one + one year contract with the opportunity to become permanent.

REQUIREMENTS
  • MSc, BSc, Laurea or university degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Electronics Engineering or related field.
  • Preferred experience in software design and development.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Strong problem solving techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intimate knowledge of object oriented programming.
  • Experience with Java, J2EE, Web Services Technologies, SOA, BPM, Web Applications.
  • Proven ability to interact with cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Must be able to travel worldwide.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

KEY TASKS

  • The software architect will focus on further refining, developing and promoting Research Group’s strategy. The post holder will play a key role in the future development of company’s new products, particularly through developing and testing new and promising technologies.
  • The post holder will be directly involved with the Business Process Modeling technologies. He will be responsible of analysing, developing and testing software prototypes based on Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) besides other norms. BPMN is a standard for the graphical and logical modeling of generic business processes.
  • An important aspect of the post will be to help build and maintain ESTECO’s reputation as an organization able to research, develop and advise on highly technological fields including the software architecture, ICT, life sciences, design and engineering processes, and microelectronics.
  • The role will involve further development of ESTECO's technological and partner networks, and include a significant direct communications role through all available media, as well as through publications, presentations and participation in internal or public events.
  • Internally, the post holder will work with a team of junior and senior researchers. He will interact with the management team, product development groups, the sales & marketing team and the services & support team in order to develop and strengthen the group’s scientific and innovative position.

DUTIES

  • Integrate and complement with the research team, and cooperate with other company’s groups.
  • Pursue and promote the research strategy fully integrated with ESTECO’s other programmes of work.
  • Understand and promote the group’s research priorities.
  • Implement the research strategy.
  • Maintenance of existing, and development of new, fundamental technologies for the research strategy.

DELIVERY

  • Delivery of high quality research and policy outputs.
  • Management and delivery of work assignments for the ongoing research projects.
  • Update the group leader through-out the delivery of projects, including formal reporting.
  • Developing, delivering and assisting the group’s high-profile scientific communication tasks.

COMMUNICATION AND NETWORKING

  • Exploit the assigned research project at ESTECO's own and external events
  • Produce a wide range of written outputs including high-quality, well targeted research policy briefs, papers and other outputs
